Formula Feeding Guidelines
(Daily Average)
(Based on the Formula-Feeding Guidelines from Similac Infant Formula)
This is a general guide to how many ounces of formula your baby should be getting in a 24 hour period based on their age. Many refluxers will do one of two things if their pain is not well managed:
1. They will tend to over-eat or "comfort eat" to sooth the burning and irritation in their throats.
2: They will not eat enough because of the pain associated with eating.
If left untreated long enough this can lead to an oral/bottle aversion. Notice that the numbers vary greatly for how many ounces your baby should be getting in a day, as it depends on your babies size, general appetite, etc. The number of feedings and amount per bottle may also vary depending on your babies size and appetite at each stage.
